Important Dates & Deadlines:

 

August 26, 2024 (9:00 AM EST) - October 30, 2024 (11:59 PM EST): Register for the TACHS Exam at www.tachsinfo.com for details.

 

August 26, 2024 - November 9, 2024: Enter your HS Choices at tachsinfo.com. Choices can be entered or modified until November 9, 2024, 11:59 PM EST. Failing to complete this by the deadline will affect availability of scores for your chosen High Schools. Monsignor Scanlan’s TACHS ID # is 304.

 

October 26, 2024: In-person Open House at Monsignor Scanlan; 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.

 

October 30, 2024: In-person Open House at Monsignor Scanlan; 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

 

November 8, 2024: Online TACHS Exam Day.

 

December 10, 2024: Submit Paper TACHS Applicant Records for Public School Students to their three (3) high school choices. The TACHS Applicant Record can be found in the TACHS Student Handbook online. Email Applicant Records to [email protected].

 

January 22, 2025: Acceptance Letters will be sent via email between 4:00 pm and Midnight, as well as through mail.

 

February 5, 2025: Deadline for Application Card return.

 

May 15, 2025: Deadline to register and submit $175 deposit for Summer Institute. To register, visit www.scanlanhs.edu/summerinstitute/.

 

June 2025: Final payment of $175 due for Summer Institute. To make payment, visit www.scanlanhs.edu/summerinstitute/.

 

Frequently Asked Questions:

 

How do I apply to Monsignor Scanlan High School?

To apply for admission to Monsignor Scanlan High School, prospective students must take the Test for Admission to Catholic High Schools (TACHS) on Friday, November 3rd. In the event that you are unable to take the TACHS Exam, an online Entrance Exam provided by MSHS will be required. The examination fee is $65 and will begin in January. Alongside the TACHS Exam, we thoroughly review students' 6th, 7th, and 8th grade school reports. Monsignor Scanlan’s TACHS Code is 304.

 

I missed the TACHS Exam. Can I still apply to Monsignor Scanlan High School?

If you missed the TACHS Exam, you must take the Monsignor Scanlan High School Entrance Exam. The cost of the Entrance Exam is $65 and cannot be shared with any other High School. The Entrance Exam is rolling admissions exam. You will be required to submit copies of your unofficial transcript that outlines grades 6, 7, and 8 or your official report cards for grades 6, 7, and 8. Is there Financial Aid available?, If so, how do I apply?

Yes, there is a limited amount of Financial Aid available. Families must apply for Financial Aid by December 30th and will be notified with their admissions notices in January. To apply for financial aid, visit www.scanlanhs.edu/financialaidapply/. Final awards are contingent upon funds available and the number of families requesting aid. 

 

How do I get to Monsignor Scanlan High School?

Monsignor Scanlan High School is located in the Throgs Neck Section of the Bronx. The Q44 bus and the Q50 bus stop on the corner of our campus at Hutchinson River Parkway and Lafayette Avenue. There are numerous connections that can be made to either bus from the Bronx and Queens.

 

Does Monsignor Scanlan High School offer a Bus Service?

Yes, currently Monsignor Scanlan High School offers a Bus Service with stops in West Yonkers, Central Yonkers, and the border of Mt. Vernon and New Rochelle. The cost of the Bus Service is $1,000.00 for the school year and is non-refundable. The fee is not included in tuition. What is the average class size at Monsignor Scanlan High School?

The average class size is about 25 students. Class sizes vary depending on grade level and courses that are being taken by students.

Does Monsignor Scanlan High School offer a Breakfast and Lunch Program?

Yes, Monsignor Scanlan High School offers a Breakfast and Lunch Program at an additional cost. The Breakfast and Lunch Program is professionally prepared by Lessing's Hospitality Group.
