At Monsignor Scanlan High School's Camp Crusader, we believe in creating unforgettable summer experiences for young minds. Camp Crusader, our vibrant summer camp, is designed for grades K-8, igniting excitement and adventure from July 1st to August 16th, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
 
Tailored for Every Age Group
Campers are grouped by grade level, fostering a supportive environment for everyone. From grades K-8, our activities are carefully curated to be age-appropriate, ensuring a summer of growth, laughter, and lifelong friendships.
 
Facilities
Spread across our expansive 13-acre campus, Camp Crusader offers access to two fields, The Gallagher Gym and The Fieldhouse Gym , gaming computers, dance studio and more. We're committed to providing a dynamic environment where curiosity knows no bounds.

Camp Crusader is a haven for exploration! From traditional organized sports like volleyball, basketball, and soccer to engaging activities such as arts & crafts, robotics, gaming, and dance – there's something for every camper to discover and enjoy.
 
Special Features
Themed weeks and a special performance at the camp's conclusion add a unique touch, making every moment at Camp Crusader truly special. For campers in grades 6-8, we've incorporated a TACHS Prep course into the schedule, ensuring both fun and educational value. 
 
Affordable and Accessible
We understand the needs of our families. With a weekly tuition of $325.00 (and an early bird special of $300 if purchased before April 30th), extended care options, and a Legacy Discount for alumni, we strive to make Camp Crusader accessible to all. If registering for more than one child, please contact [email protected]. Snack and Lunch Catered by Gemelli's Pizzeria and a T-Shirt is included in tuition.

General Information:
  • What is the camp's daily schedule?
    • Campers will engage in 40-minute periods of various age-appropriate activities, both indoors and outdoors.
      Activities include sports, free play, arts and crafts, dance, STEM, instructional time, and water activities.
    • How long has the camp been in operation?
      • Camp Crusader is a new camp that will open in the Summer of 2024. Be a part of the inaugural Camp Crusader Campers.
    • What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?
        • Our camp-to-counselor ratio will vary depending on groups. 
          • Grades K - 1: 1:6
          • Grades 2 - 3: 1:9
          • Grades 4 - 5: 1:12
          • Grades 6 - 8: 1:12

Safety and Supervision:
  • What safety measures are in place?
    • Safety measures include experienced staff, secure environment, School Guard app, on-site Head of Security, specific colored shirts for camper groups, 2 fire drills, and on-site defibrillator.
    • All counselors are trained in first aid and CPR.
    • Emergency handling involves contacting parents and making necessary calls promptly.
  • How are emergencies handled?
    • If there is a family emergency that we need to be aware of while your child is in our care, please contact the Camp directly and speak with the Camp Director.
    • If there is an emergency, we will contact both sets of parents on file. Depending on the severity of the situation, if an ambulance is required or law enforcement, we will make the necessary calls quickly and notify families of any campers’ involved. 
  • Can parents visit the camp during the sessions?
    • We understand that parents want to see what their children are up to during the day but for the safety of all of our campers and staff you make an appointment with the Camp Director. Families should refrain from unexpected visits throughout the day as it can be confusing and disrupt younger campers.
 
Camp Activities:
  • What types of activities are offered?
    • Camp Crusader is a haven for exploration! From traditional organized sports like volleyball, basketball, and soccer to engaging activities such as arts & crafts, robotics, gaming, and dance – there's something for every camper to discover and enjoy. Campers’ will have access to organized sports such as basketball, baseball, dance as well as STEM activities, arts and crafts, and board games.
  • How are activities structured for different age groups?
    • Activities will be geared towards the appropriate age groups and inline with what campers are accustomed to throughout the school year.
  • Are there any educational components to the camp?
    • There is an educational component to Camp Crusader. Campers in Grades K - 5 will not separate ELA or Math classes but ELA and Math will be built into their everyday activities. Grades 6 - 8 will have a set period of instructional time of 60 minutes that will focus on TACHS prep. Students who are not yet ready to take the TACHS will still benefit from TACHS prep as it will help them with their test taking skills, reading comprehension, and math skills.
  • Can campers choose their activities, or is there a set schedule?
    • Campers will have a set schedule each day. There will be a period of camper’s choice where students in Grades 6 - 8 can choose a preferred activity they would like to take part in during that day.

  • What kind of facilities does the camp have?

  • Are there indoor and outdoor spaces?
    • Yes, campers will utilize both inside and outside facilities.
  • How are meals provided, and are dietary restrictions accommodated?
    • Snack and lunch will be Catered by Gemelli's Pizzeria at no additional cost and served in our cafeteria.
  • Is transportation to and from the camp available?
    • At this current time, we do not offer transportation to and from camp.
